About Paul Garrard

Paul has always lived within the Granville Electorate and has raised a family of four children, with Karen his wife, in that area. He has been in public life 36 years representing the people of Granville, Guildford and Merrylands.
He has served as Lord Mayor of Parramatta on five
occasions and has had a distinguished career in local government.
Paul has played an active role in leading the campaign against the State Government’s planning laws, which seek to overrule local councils, and ruin local neighbourhoods, with medium density housing.
He has opposed the expansion of the local sex industry with tough new regulations in the face of a compliant attitude by the State Government.
Not a stranger to tackling awkward and complicated issues, in the past, his home was fired bombed and subsequently destroyed, for defending local residents against organised crime.
